Mendong is a type of water grass that grows abundantly in Java, Indonesia. It is a quickly renewable resource that can be harvested every 3 to 5 months.
It is a completely sustainable material of high quality for baskets and trays.
The long grass blades can achieve very fine weaves and also more chunky ones when tied together. Commonly paired with plastic raffia for color accents.
